Hi.

Several people have asked me how and why I became a Christian. This is the story of how I came to know Jesus.

I was raised in a Catholic household and attended church every Sunday. As a child, I often found the services boring and didn’t pay much attention. Eventually, when my mother felt I was old enough, she allowed me to stay home alone instead of going to church.

I don’t remember exactly how I got involved in witchcraft, but I recall hearing a story—sometime in the 1980s, if memory serves—about a security guard at the Museum of Nature who claimed to have seen a ghost on the fourth floor in the North section. I found that story intriguing. So much so that I skipped school one day to visit the Museum myself. I spoke with a few guards who eventually directed me to the one who had seen the ghost. She didn’t want to talk about it, but she referred me to another guard who was very interested in the paranormal.

Over the next several days—again, skipping school—I returned to the Museum to learn more. That guard shared stories about ghosts, showed me different gemstones she wore, and explained their supposed spiritual properties. She encouraged me to visit an occult shop on Bank Street to buy some for myself.

I eventually went to the store and purchased various gemstones, along with a book that claimed to explain which stones offered “power” and protection.

Sometime later, I was called in for a job interview. During the interview, the employer asked if he could pray for me. I wasn’t particularly comfortable with the idea, but I was afraid that refusing might cost me the job. So I agreed. After praying, he handed me a small booklet titled Born Again Christian.

When I got home, I tossed the booklet on my dresser and forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, while cleaning my room, I found it again. Curious, I called my aunt to ask about it. She recommended that I speak to a friend of my father’s.

I reached out to him, and we met to talk. He explained that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. He showed me John 3:16, which says:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

He went on to explain that Jesus came to earth and died on the cross for our sins, and that eternal life is only found through a relationship with Him.

Take a moment to look at the image below. It illustrates how people try to reach Heaven through religion, good deeds, philosophy, and other paths—but Scripture teaches that the only true way to God is through Jesus Christ.

JESUS - THE ONLY WAY TO GOD

I used to believe that simply being a good person was enough to get into Heaven. That belief changed when a friend of my father’s shared something new with me. After hearing his message, he asked if I wanted to invite Jesus into my life. I said yes, and he guided me through a simple prayer. That was the moment I accepted Christ into my heart.

I began attending his church—a Pentecostal congregation—and I was immediately drawn to the services. The pastor consistently spoke messages that felt deeply personal and relevant, as though God was using him to speak directly to me. Sometimes, the sermons made me feel convicted, but I came to realize that this is one of the ways God communicates with us. If we only heard pleasant messages with no challenge or conviction, how would we grow or understand what God truly wants for our lives?

For me, this journey began in 1993, when I was just 15 years old. From that point on, I did my best to share the message of Jesus with others and help them see how He desires to be part of their lives.

As Christians, we are called to share God’s Word with the world. There are many ways to do this—ask God in prayer how He would like to use you. It could be something as simple as greeting people at church. I learned this from a friend, who helped me see that even small actions can make a big impact. For instance, someone visiting church for the first time might be on the edge of giving up on faith altogether, and a simple greeting could be what leads them to Christ. That perspective was new to me and deeply inspiring.

Personally, I’ve found my way of sharing God’s message through podcasting. When God places something on my heart, I use that platform to speak on it. I used to host a podcast where I featured guests and allowed them to promote their businesses for free. Initially, I had hoped to monetize the project, but when that didn’t happen, I gave it up.

This time, however, my motivation is different. I’m not podcasting for profit—I’m doing it simply because I believe it’s what God is calling me to do.

I recently restarted doing both Audio and Video Podcasts hosted on both YouTube and Spotify amongst a few other platforms.

God bless.
